Ontario AI Scribe Program

The Ontario AI Scribe Program was established by the Ministry of Health and Ontario Health to connect clinicians with pre-qualified AI scribes and build a convenient, comprehensive, and connected health care system.
Supply Ontario, with support from OntarioMD (OMD), conducted a procurement process and evaluated AI scribe vendors and their products against a number of requirements, including:
- clinical & business
- technical (security)
- privacy & legal
- fair pricing for clinicians.
The resulting Vendor of Record (VOR) list of AI scribe vendors removes the guesswork for clinicians and relieves the burden of sourcing this technology, saving clinicians both time and money. Additionally, clinicians will receive complimentary change management support by OntarioMD.
How to get started
- Submit your interest in participating to OMD
Complete the Expression of Interest (EOI) Form. - Get a Supply Ontario Intake link via email
Once the EOI is submitted, you’ll receive a confirmation email from OntarioMD with a link to the Supply Ontario Intake form. - Fill out the Intake form
Once you complete the Supply Ontario Intake form, you can expect a response within three (3) business days. For delays over seven (7) days, contact support@ontariomd.com.
Once onboarded, OntarioMD provides free guidance on implementation, workflow changes, and ongoing optimization.

What is the Ontario AI Scribe Program?
OntarioMD supports family physicians, specialists, nurse practitioners and their staff to adopt and efficiently use digital health technology to care for their patients. In partnership with Supply Ontario and OntarioMD, the government has identified recognized vendors to help connect clinicians to AI scribe technology by Canadian vendors, which will help family physicians and nurse practitioners put patients before paperwork.
These identified Canadian vendors (Vendor of Record list) offer AI scribes and meet a set of clinical, privacy and security requirements while offering a fair price-point for clinicians. This will help to take the guesswork out and relieve the burden of sourcing this technology, saving clinicians both money and time. This vendor list and OntarioMD’s complementary change management advice to integrating the AI scribes efficiently into practices are at the core of the Ontario AI Scribe Program.
Why select an AI scribe from the Vendor of Record (VOR) list?
- Clinician Driven:
Every criterion, from documentation accuracy to workflow fit, was developed in collaboration with physicians/clinicians with input from the OMA, SGFP, Ontario Health, Supply Ontario and others, and was based on OMD’s AI Scribe Evaluation Study. - Confidence in Compliance:
- The vendors and products had to satisfy provincial requirements for clinical functions, privacy of personal health information, security and other legal considerations. A variety of stakeholders provided their input to develop requirements that align with the medico-legal obligations of physicians. Vendors have been qualified and their AI scribe products were evaluated by experts. The Canadian Medical Protective Association(CMPA) was consulted by OntarioMD during the creation of the Vendor of Record project. The CMPA supports the appropriate review of eHealth tools to help ensure physicians can meet their legal and regulatory obligations. The CMPA is also supportive of physicians relying on appropriate eHealth tools, including AI scribes, that allow them to provide quality care more efficiently and effectively to their patients while improving overall access to care.
- Pre-negotiated Fair Pricing:
By choosing a vendor from the VOR list, you get access to discounted pricing that would otherwise not be available to you. - Support at Every Step of the Process:
Many clinics still need help integrating AI into their daily work after receiving vendor training. OntarioMD is here to help you through the VOR process, support you with the transition, and ensure the change goes smoothly. OntarioMD offers complimentary change management and workflow support to help you adopt and benefit from your AI scribe.
